My Last Day At Seventeen

Through 2014 and 2015 I created on a series of comic vignettes that ran in parallel to the photographs in Doug DuBois’ photobook, My Last Day at Seventeen. The narrative, about a group of teenagers coming of age in Ireland was sourced, inspired and extrapolated from a series of interviews that Doug and I conducted with residents of Russel Heights, Cobh, Co, Cork in the summer of 2014. The photographs and comics work together to create a unique dialogue that mixes documentary and creative fiction in varying degrees.
